event photography - flash and diffuser

Hi all

i have a couple of indoor evening events coming up and wondered what you good people would recommend for a diffuser. i dont think my efforts are terrible, but help always welcome:

i shoot with a d300 nikon, using a tamrom 28-75 f2.8. i dont have a big budget, as ever, so under £50 would be ace.

I think it depends a lot on the venue. You can bounce your flash straight up, with or without a diffuser if the ceiling is not too high. You can spend a lot on various designs of flash diffuser, not sure how effective any of them are. I have the basic plastic cap type diffuser for mine.

I've made something similar to this which seems to work quite well.

I don't think there's a 'perfect' answer.
 
I also bought the link delight diffuser (Exactly the same as the stofen at a fraction of the cost) but out of curiousity I got this too.

and..... the results are absolutey great and best of all you unpop it and it folds flat, if you have a lowepro fastpack or similar then once folded flat it slides away into the all weather cover compartment or laptop compartment on backpacks and takes up no space whatsoever. I cant believe how often I have used this handy device when bounce flash has been out of the question.
