New to all this and haven't bought my camera yet. I was thinking about a Canon 550d and hoping to pick up some tips and advice.

Hi Mick,

Welcome aboard. You could do much worse than a 550D as your first DSLR. It is capable of superb images.

Whatever you decide, be sure to post some of your work on here. You will find the forum immensely helpful.
