EU Sponsored Smoking?

I am currently working a short term 6 month contract near where I live which is nice. It is in Wakefield just 10 miles away.
Because it is so local most days I just get the train one stop up 15mins from Mirfield to Wakefield Kirgate.
it is then a gentle wander to my office 15 mins.

So as I exit the station is seems that a number of smokers attach themselves to me and accompany me on my foot journey to the office.
The starter smokers often seem to break off mid walk to be be replaced with another couple of their team which take me the most of the way to my office.
They seem to drop off 100yards short near the Halifax bank.
It also seems to be that all of these teams of smokers are made up of Polish, Rumanian, Lithuianina and other shabilly dressed countries of Origin.

What is going on, is the EU paying subsidies to these people to get ex smokers back in to smoking?

Actually you could say "Yes" as they get their family and friends to send over the "local" brands at a fraction of the cost in the UK.

edit but its not only the EU, in the USA my brand the equivalent of £2.10 for 20.
over here circa £8.00

I think it the Eastern Europeans answer to Brexit.
So what they are doing is getting their people who have b****r all chances of getting a visa into worthwhile community support jobs.

neither just thought it was funnier the the usual crap around here.

although smokers are pretty grubby..........
The EUs there just here coz its like being on holiday all year.
