Etiquette, do other toggers get on your **** ?

if I'm working an event (i.e being paid) then I'll try to work with the other pro togs so we can all get the shots we need without getting in each others way - If we get in the way of joe public in doing this than sorry but it cant always be avoided. I wont miss my shot just to give joe public a good view.

there was one time when a "photographer" really ****ed me off though, he stepped over the barrier to stand beside me in a restricted area (an event on private ground) - tried to tell me he was "press" - year right - cheap camera and kit lens and no media pass (unlike me) asked him to leave and why - told me to **** off so i kept moving whilst taking photos (i did not have time to argue as i had a job to do) - i just seemed to always be in front of him when he wanted to take a photo - he got the message and left.

was i wrong? i had worked dam hard getting the job(several months) - paid for the insurance i needed, and had the permission and the credentials to be there.

At a family event and all photos are personal, no official event togs... it's not just other togs you need to be polite to, its other spectators and kids, they have just as much right as you do.

Quite agree, I hope you didn't think I was suggesting anything else :D

Of course if someone is getting paid to cover an event then they have a job to do and that has to come first. However, most of the time there is more than 1 position to get the shot and deliberately getting in the way is wrong out of spite is wrong (although I support Sporty Snaps in his deliberate act - sounds like the chap deserved it)

The thing is some people are very rude. There are rude fisherman, rude musicians, rude twitchers( as a bit of a birder I have a particular 'thing' about middle aged women who bustle about in hides, talking loudly and insisting on pushing their way to the front).

Rude people are often self centred, unaware and unfortunately you find them everywhere.

Luckily when I become dicatator they will all be shot.

If there is one thing that will make my see red, It rude and pushy people.

I've got a slight problem. I push back very hard.

Don't get my wrong, I'm not a pushy person I just can't stand them.

Do unto other as you want other to do to you.

I noticed a little bit of a verbal going on at Druids, BSB Oulton Park on Raceday, had to laugh as it was the same idiot that actually checked behind to make sure he was blocking my shot last year - I should have taken a picture looking back as he was a complete k*****r !

Yes, I understand Media need to get their shots but if I had a pass I sure as hell wouldn't be damn near leaning on the spectator fence !

Nice attitude. In terms of importance, it ranks participants first, spectators next, photographers last. Fans pay good money to get in to gigs, race meets, matches, shows etc, and to have an attitude that basically tells them 'tough' if you get in their way stinks.

when I've been in gigs, pro's and other photographers have been very polite to me.

however, they've been less polite to a friend of mine, therefore she started borrowing pro kit from her place of work....
my kit is worse from a posing/kudos point of view...
I think the difference is that I'm 6ft ish and 14st. and she's 5'4" and strong bass could knock her over.

also at weddings giving the pro's some room, and then taking pics...they've generally been very nice

When shooting weddings you'll always find one guest will "jump" in front of you to get a shot. Please keep in mind "that shot" was set up by the photographer! However nothing is worse than fighting with a press pack. Trying to keep your position and yelling to get the subjects attention is quite an experience.

Going back a few years when Neil Kinnock was standing for PM he visited Neval Hall hospital, what a shambles, togs were even climbing the flower stand to get a shot (it collapsed lol) it was worse than the pole tax riots!

I think I'd rather have trampled Neil Kinnock.

I attended the BHP/Top Gear show at Earls Court last year. They had an "Eleanour" Mustang (Gone in 60 Seconds). Absolutely gorgeous car. Several people, myself included waited patiently to be able to take shots of the car without other people in the way. Just as the "veiwers" moved away and our chance arrived everyone camera poised, some woman just barged straight in front of everyone and started taking photos for about 5 mins. By which time more "veiwers" had arrived and the chance was gone.:bang:
I bet she was the sort of person who would overtake you in her car after you'd pulled to one side to give way to on coming traffic.
I do hate it when spectators get in my way at motorsport tracks especially after I've picked my spot carefully so as not to get in other tog or spectators way.
