Hi,

I have set an assignment titled "Local Landscapes". I live in Benfleet Essex.
I would like to capture something a little unusal.
Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully appreciated ;);)
Thanks in advance

Paul

I can't help with specific locations but I always find searching Flickr is a good source of inspiration. Try searching for 'Essex' and see what you get, or try being more specific with local towns/villages in your search.

Alternatively, take a walk. Get a map (ordnance survey ones with the orange covers are best. your local library will probably have one) and go follow some of the public footpaths, see where they lead and what you find.
Some of my favorite spots for photographing I've found by walking less than a couple of miles from my house

Hadleigh Castle..here is one i did earlier..

One of favourite places..;)

If you want 'unusual' or less pretty, just try walking around Southend and capturing some of the older and run-down buildings around and off the seafront, or some of the businesses under the arches there. Or if you want some urban stuff, try walking around the centre of Basildon to capture the 60's/70's concrete jungle that's there...look for different angles and perspectives.

You could try browsing around Google Maps using the "Satellite" view to see if you can find an area that looks like it has potential.

I've always wanted to do the circular walk round Canvey Island.

There is industrial, estuarine and social landscape all in the one walk.

I would try to look at the tides first so that you have big expanses of the mud flats to see at some time during the walk.
