I've had my camera for around 2.5 years but only used it a few times so i'm still quite new to photography, Originally I did portrait photography but now I see myself doing more landscape/outdoor photography than anything else. I have a tripod (nothing fancy), various filters from a kit I got on eBay which include ND filters etc..; remote shutter, speedlight and 3 lenses (18-55mm, 35mm & 50mm).

So my question is what other kit would be ideal for someone taking landscape pictures?
 
Good socks and waterproof boots.
 
And a torch as you'll be up late/early for sunrise [emoji560] or after sunset
 
A decent head torch that has a red light which is easier on night vision especially when changing settings etc
 
And some cleaning cloths. It's not much fun having the time and opportunity and subject and then having to make do with trying to clean your lens with your T shirt.

Apart from that, I'd recommend getting into the habit of checking your gear the night before. I've been the twit who went out without a battery before.
 
I'd say the day before. To make sure batteries are charged!


Yea I've made that mistake.... Won't happen again!

Much the same can be said about checking that you have a memory card in the camera and a spare or two. I know...:D

Indeed, I've taken to secreting old cards in each of my bags so if/when I leave the card in my computer I can fish around for a spare. Memory cards are so cheap that this costs virtually nothing.

Halfway up Mam Tor at 3.30am with an unhappy missus on tow... I feel your pain!

Yes done that, after a 2 hour drive to Ashridge Estate for the bluebells.

I've done better, drove to my location, got the camera bag out of the boot, realised my camera was still on my desk at home! :mad:

The bloke who writes a blog I read always leaves the door open when I removes the battery / card and that way he knows that if he goes to pick the camera up and the door is open... he needs to put something in and close it :D

No good of they are dead..... But I see where he is getting at. Take them out, charge them.

Then remember to put them back in....

I do the same. Plus a system of putting used batteries terminals-up in the battery pouches for easy identification.

I kind of do the same except charged batteries are in one zipped inside pocket in the backpack and empty batteries go in another pocket. The two never mix so its easy to know which are charged and which need charging.

I need to do something similar but with pockets as there are not enough in my bag.

Get out take pictures and see how you get on with what you already have.
 
I always pack a thermos for hot coffee when waiting for the right conditions and recently bought a gas stove from decathlon for my bacon rolls in the early mornings.

It's the worst! We went for a weekend away at Harlech Castle from Sheffield, realised all my memory cards were at home . Thank God for Tesco!
