My 1DS MkII got a bit wet yesterday at an airshow and then started playing tricks culminating in the infamous 'Error 99' code. I thought EOS 1 series bodies were supposed to be weatherproof. Admittedly it got quite wet, but my EOS 1D MKIII got just as wet and was fine. Has anybody got any thoughts or advice?

Remove battery, card etc, open doors etc and let it dry out. Suppose it depends on the age or usage but I'd then check the seals to see if they are OK.

Remember, it is only weatherprrof if you use the correct weatherproofed lenses with filters on.

I dont think it is. I would think that the lens would need a little seal on the back of the lens like the 24-105 does. I could be completely wrong though...

Anyone know where to find a complete list of weatherproof lenses?

The 17-40 f/4 L is weather sealed, but a filter (UV) completes the weather sealing so without one, it's not.

The lens has a UV filter. The Camera's only had 5500 or so actuations so I'd assume it should be okay as its been well looked after.

I had an old EOS600 which sat in the airing cupboard for three weeks to dry out! With a trip to Sri Lanka, not to mention wedding jobs, I'm hoping it works soon.

Incidently, if it has to go for repair, any idea on the possible cost, time away and who you would recommend please anybody?

Fixation are pretty darn good. They have fixed a few of my cameras (when I lived in England). Prices are good too.

Dan.
