Yes
Got a couple of error 20s on my 50d today, just after i had put on a brand new canon 50mm f1.8,just started to check if it wanted micro adjusting, that need +12 to get it spot on.
this is way more than my Tamron which is +2 sigma -3
Could this error message be generated by the lens ?,put a tamron 28-75 f2.8 on that seems OK,Sigma 70-200 f2.8 that seems ok
Did the taking battery out format card, and that seems to have cleared the error problem just wondering if it may be the lens ?
anyone had these then they've gone away or im i likely to see the escalate
any advice from you if it has happened to you, much appreciated

Could you be being thrown by the small depth of field of the 50mm f/1.8. You may well be MAing to much (but I've not done it myself).

Sorry I can't be of more help.

ive had one of these before Ross, its the "error 20" that's concerning me,shows as "mechanical error" now im not sure if that Error can only be related to a BODY mechanical error or Body/Lens combination mechanical error
done a few test shots the CA on this nifty fifty is shocking,it will be going back anyway.im hoping its just a bad lens

cleaned all the contacts on the NEW canon lens, seems to have sorted the problem out

Faulty contacts usually comes up as an error 99 message, but it sounds good let's hope it's sorted.
