Errant mouse pointer

Randomly throughout the day my mouse pointer will blat itself into the upper left of my screen and its really annoying. Anyone any ideas on how to fix the darn thing?

Its a logitech corded optical mouse if that helps.

this or it might be faulty. or damaged, are there any obvious dents in the touchpad surface?

or, do you have one of those daft nubbin mice in the center of the keyboard?

You do t gave a Wacom do you? Mine used to go that if the pen was close by...

No Wacom no. Just run a driver re-install job, see if that works after reboot.

Optical mice can easily be tricked by a shiny surface.

From time to time a cat hair gets into the laser's path and causes all sorts of problems when I use a mouse. A quick blow in the hole and the problem's solved. For a day or 2! (Same problem with a trackball!) Did once have a problem with a pointer that always went back to a certain point. Eventually realised that the graphics tablet's pen was sat on the surface (under a pile of paperwork!)
