Hi, I keep getting the following message coming up when I use my Tokina 12-24mm lens

"Err 01, communications between the camera and the lens is faulty. clean the lens contacts"

Lens contacts are fine, and error doesnt appear all time, only when I take shots with a slower shutter, am I right in thinking its a problem, with the lens, and need it repaired?
 
Tim I'm guessing it's only occuring with this particular lens.
Try carefully cleaning both the lens and body contacts with Isopropyl Alcohol. It's a lot safer and also non abrasive unlike using an eraser, the gold contacts are very thin and easily damaged.
Can you reproduce the error with a fully charged battery installed?
 
Is it definitely the shutter speed causing the error? I had a Tokina 12-24 with the same error and it was a result of stopping the aperture down and was down to a faulty ribbon cable. I sent it to Kenro after speaking to Intro2020 who are the uk importers of Tokina lenses.
