Equivalent lens question

What lens would be the equivalent focal length on a 1D3 as a 10-22mm on a 40D?

13-28ish?

Yup, about that. Only real options for non 1.6 crop sensors I know of are:

Sigma 12-24
Sigma 15-30
Canon 16-35

I didn't. I omitted the 17-40 as it's not that wide on a 1D3

The other approach is often overlooked but may work out financially viable....buy a FF body to use with your existing lenses. A secondhand 5D would expand the options on all your lenses.

As it happens, that is what I'm thinking. I keep the 40D as a backup as it can accomodate EF-S lenses for wide shots, ie: 10-22mm.

If I bought a 5d and a 17-40mm I wouldn't be too far away from where I am now and would have a FF camera.
