Having been at Duxford on Saturday I have started to get lens envy again... well just a little. I have realised that I could do with a little more reach, I have used my 1.4 tc on the 70-300 VR I have bit I am not that happy with the performance or the results.

I have been looking round at something in the 400mm range and have seen the following lenses.

80-400 VR (Nikon) Getting slightly dated but still holds it price in the 970.00
80-400 Tokina (Have ruled this one out as it is very slow with the focus)
120-400 OS (Sigma) I am getting drawn to this lens mainly due to the price which is around the 540.00 mark.

Does any one have experience with using this lens or any shots taken with this lens.. If so what is the speed like with focus and how are the images at the top end of the zoom range,,,

How about the Sigma 150-500mm OS? Not sure on the price, but seems to be getting good reviews... There's a review of the 120-400mm OS at SLRGear...

My old man has the 80-400mm VR Nikon, but honestly, I don't like it. Much prefer my 100-300mm f/4 and a 1.4TC. I use an external Manfrotto VR system instead;)

I have the 80-400, it is a very versatile compact zoom. Not the best IQ, but it does me......

get a Nikon or Sigma 300mm f2.8 with a 1.4xTC

Gents thanks for the comments, I will have a look at the 150-500 and look into the 300mm, I have TC's so I guess all I need to do is have a visit to cameraworld and play with some lenses to see which will suit.
