I am travelling abroad [Spain] with photography equipment valued at around £4,000. My existing travel insurance only provides cover up to £400 for single items and will not extend my policy. I am not sure how long I will be abroad – it could be as little as 3 weeks or may extend to 3 months or more. I won't be doing any paid work, just shooting for myself. Does anyone have experience of this kind of situation and what is the best/cheapest insurance cover you would recommend?

Check your household contents policy Nick. I have full cover for my gear when abroad (inc accidental damage). I took my gear to Mallorca earlier this year and checked with my policy supplier that I was fully covered and I was. Could be that you would probably have to have a premium contents cover though.
