Thought I'd post this link as there's been a few horse posts lately and this guys got a fairly unique style. Some of it I like, some I don't.

Interesting link Dod, not really my type of "thing" though

Know what you mean Cobra, my wife just had a look through them and doesn't like any where the ears have been clipped. Just thought it might be worthwhile for folk looking for ideas as from a photography point of view there's some nice stuff :)

I'm no expert but I'm not impressed with these shots. I'd be miffed if
I'd paid him lots of dosh to photograph my nag!

Not that I have one!

Will be interesting to read the views of any horse owners here?

If I took pictures of my daughters horse like that she would get a "parent child" D.I.V.O.R.C.E. :D

mmmm
This is a dangerous thread, as it almost invites critique of another photographer’s external website…
That said when I looked at the photos two words sprung to mind “overexposure” and “venture”, but that was just a passing thought and nothing to do with the work on the website, as I’m sure the customers are happy with the work, as they are (of course) always right.

you're quite right sportysnaps, although the purpose was simply to give people some ideas on options which might work for equine portraits :) Personally I like the style.

Having said that, I've just reported the thread and I'll go with what the rest of the mods feel is appropriate :)

It may well be that the tog has been given a brief by the client - ie high key stuff or a certain style of shot. A recent client I did a yard shoot for had a fist full of pics from equine mags and wanted certain styles of shots replicated. Thats hard when your dealing any animal :lol:

But other 'togs work gets discussed on here for better or worse.
So "we" can praise an external web site but not criticise

I have to say I like some of them. They do seem quite personal, which is what the clients obviously want. Some of them I think are at weird angles and some as mentioned earlier have had ears clipped off and things but generally I thought there were good ones. I suppose it helps that I like horses though :D
his write up of himself on the website does seem a little pretentious though....just imo.
:)

Having slightly defended the argument earlier I have to concede that that is a good point...

I really like most of this guys stuff I must say.

Not my thing either but having done a spot of work with horses (and it isn't easy!) some of the images are very good.

Certainly likes his wide angle lens and he has ability, there's no doubt in that.

I think there's "style", and then there's repetitiveness, I find this the later, but that's just my opinion of course....

.

I think each to their own really.
I like some of them...
but i agree, he does like to talk himself up alot.
