Love my printer but have a bit of a problem.

I'm currently trying to print an A3 B&W which stops printing about 2/3 of the way through.

Its a big PSD file at a 360 resolution (which is supposed to be the best setting for an R2400)

I did a smaller A4 version which went through OK.

I've had a similar problem (my first ever print on it actually) which was on an A4 colour print.

Dont know much about this sort of thing - is it likely to be a buffer/memory issue and if so, any ideas how I would solve it?

The R2400 is an A3+ printer so I would expect it to handle pretty much any file size. So is it my PC?

:help:

I have the r2400 printer and no problems printing A3 so far

Does it just stop or does it eject the print at 2/3rds?
Also, what spec computer do you have? Unless it is very old/low spec, I shouldnt think the computer is at fault.
Have you tried contacting Epson? I have found them very helpful in the past, they should be able to help you solve your problems

I have heard of this problem before and it turned out to be a combination of things, operating system and hardware related to old 'ish PC equipment, the solution was to turn the print spooler off, this causes the initial to print time to get longer but it printed ok. This may not be your problem but it worked for the same symptoms on a firends system.

My PC is about 4 years old but has been upgraded somewhat and my hard drive is about 50% full.

The print just stops, with an 'unknown error' message coming up, but it doesnt eject the paper.

OK - how do I turn the print spooler off? Sorry to be a PC moron!

I actually got this to print last night after turning the pc off and on again and having nothing else running, but I do need to understand it as ink and paper on 2/3 of an A3 plus is a damned waste of money!

Thanks everyone for their help - its nice to know I'm not alone when this sort of stuff crops up

How big is the file? it sounds to me as though the pc is running out of resources while printing it.

52,240 KB - I've printed bigger - it seems a bit random.

I think i'm right in saying this, as i'm a Mac user, so thinking back to my PC days.

To turn the spooler off,

Double click Printers and faxes on the Control panel
Click your printer and select "set printer properties".
Advanced tap
Select "Print directly to printer" or "turn spooler off" something like that, click Apply and OK.
Reboot computer.

Thanks - I'll give that a go. Its something similar to what the guy at Epson said, although he was not as clear as to how I go about it.

When I did get it to print last night, I had turned off the option to high speed print. The guy at Epson said that doing that changes buffer settings which I assume is something connected with spooling?

Aaagh technology! I remember when you used to switch on and press print! I also remember that the results were pretty bad on my first colour printer too.

Thanks again everyone.
