I am considering purchasing an A3+ printer and am struggling to decide which is the best option from those above. As there is £150 price differential between the highest and lowest I would like advice on the benefits of spending the extra cash and is it worth it?

There's an article on the Canon in Digital Photo this month. Thier view:

Epson R2400 is slower but deliver better B&W. Epson R1800 equally good with colour, fine detail not so good.

Ratings were
Features and build 5/5
Performance 5/5
Image Quality 4/5
Value for money 3/5
overall 4/5.....

No personal exp but seems solid and delivers the goods at A3+...

Dont forget to include the HP B9180, Its had some amazing reviews.

I saw one last week and the quality is up there with the 2400 it can be had for £400 if you shop around.

I have the R2400 and a friend of mine has the R1800, but now wishes he bought the R2400. Colour photos are pretty similar but the R2400 wipes the floor with the R1800 when it comes to black and white. Have a look here for reviews. http://www.photo-i.co.uk/

I use the Canon i9950 for my A3 work and can honestly say the results are outstanding.:)

Cannot comment on the Epson models quoted but banding and heads clogging up with previous Epsons I have used has turned me away from Epsons for a long long time..:(

I had the i9950 before my R2400, and I must say the colour photos on canon paper is outstanding, but again lacked in the black and white side imo. But the i9950 is a lot faster.

R2400 is a superb printer. Colour is outstanding and B&W prints are second to none that I have seen.

I love mine :-)

Thanks to all who have responded. It has provided food for thought and helped a little to clarify the route to take.
