hi all and thanks for looking.

don't know if this is the correct place for this post but it is about printing.

I have the ciss system for my epson px710w.
when I installed it it allowed me to print the alignment sheets and all was fine.
now though when I go to print, it gives me a general error fault.

Does anyone know what is happening?

thanks Ben.

take the ciss off and try again (and check the encoder strip)

hi gonzo, what is the encoder strip?

Have removed and reseated the cartridges several times already.
the old cartridges are empty and I can not even use basic check functions with them.

Ben.

have you checked the manual?

also contact the supplier to see if they can help, it may be a fault with the system.

the encoder strips a length of plastic that runs all the way across the printer at the back of the head, it has tiny lines down it so the head knows where about it is on the carriage. if you managed to get ink on there during the fit it will lock up and throw an error.

does the head move across at all when you power up ?

hi and thanks for the help so far.

the carts are static but the printing head moves properly when I start the printer up.

I can view the ink levels on the ciss no problems and all show as full.
The instruction manual for the printer says this is caused by a paper jam, but I have looked and no paper is in the feed system at all.
the ciss instructions is nothing but a crappy bit of paper showing how to install only.

All printer drivers check out ok on both machines I print from.

Ben.

is this still under warranty as epson will come and swap it for a refurb ?

general error faults are a bitch to pin down on those. can you advance the pickup roller by hand then rest some paper on it, when you power up it will pull the paper in (possibly throw a jam warning) and after a few starts pull it all the way through to clear the path.

hi all and thanks for your help.
epson didn't want to know at all, and tried all the help here to no availe.
what did sort it was a good bit of cornish foul language and a thump.
now it works great!!!!

thanks again.
