I've seen a couple of books on Amazon, for users of Epson printers:

New Epson Complete Guide to Digital Printing (Sheppard, 2008)
The Art of Printing Photos on your Epson Printer (Freeman, 2009)

I have Freeman's book 'Perfect Exposure' which I find very useful,
so I'm leaning towards his print how to publication.

I have an R800 at the moment, on Epson cartridges.

Want to improve colour output, and start B&W printing also.

The above books are only around a tenner, but I prefer to avoid
dud books sitting on shelves, and prefere something I can keep as
a useful reference.

Any recommendations?

cant think of whats in the book other than the advice of using the profiles recomended by the paper manufacturer and get you screen calibrated

Michael Freemans book looks a bit interesting as it covers Fine Art printing as well.

One thing about Amazon is you can return a book if on receipt you don't like it.

Yes, that's true - I was interested in that aspect...

Oh, I didn't know that - Amazon are amazing!

Probably.. I need to budget for a calibration tool also - any recommendations?

Look at the Spyder, several flavours available. Also the Huey. Personally I use the i-One , bit more expensive but does an excellent job.

Have a word with the guys at Colour Confidence, they can point you in the direction of the best one at the right price, as they supply all of them
