Epson printing problems

Having had endless trouble and advice on how to get prints to look like the monitor from my 1290 I saw on a forum that someone had resorted to printing via Epson's own Photoquick. It is clumsy to use - designed for the idiot (suits me) but lo! the prints came out matching what I thought I could see without any tweaking - all automatic.

Why didn't they do this for the software that is the print driver for all other applications such as Photoshop. Now I have to learn how size and get the print where I want it on the page!

It shows what can be done and the calibration was not far out but exasperating for a grumpy old man!

I actually just uninstalled that without trying it, thanks for the tip, I'm getting right hacked off with printing problems as well.

Not to be left out my epson R200 is playing up refusing to feed the paper. maybe we could have a syncronised printer lobbing out the window session

just by chance have you manged to find any icc profiles for this printer, i cant find them anywhere. well i think its them i need for better prints anyhow.

If you use Ilford papers you can get icc profiles for them from www.ilford.com under Support. Pick the R300 ones as it's the same printer.

thanks steep i think i'll try ilford paper as ive not really tried printing at home since my terrible first experiences, since then i've only ever used photobox!

7dayshop is a good source for Ilford paper noah, a box of 25 A4 will cost about £7-8. My personal favourite is Gallerie classic pearl.

Sammy put me onto this iflord paper and i think its great, one thing though, can you get a sort of spray on protector. The reason I ask is the print smudges if caught with greasy fingers etc.... Any one got any ideas?

Google says "Pressit Sprayfix" not tried it nor even heard of it before but it seems ideal. Seen it for £11.50 per 400ml on fleabay.

If you leave the print to dry properly (over night) then you should have no problems at all. I use Ilford papers and providing I do as above, I find them very hard waring and really resistant to finger prints once dry.
