Eos 6d Owners Thread!

It's not that bad, it's not as fast as you would expect and at 1.2 my hit rate isn't great with a 1 year old but I've got plenty of shots at 1.2 that I'm happy with. Obviously it's easier the smaller the aperture you use but why else would you get this over the 1.4?

The filter thread problem and the softness wide open kind of put me off.

Really considering upgrading to a 6D next pay day.
The one thing that puts me off is the focus selection as I hear it's very similar to the 5D mkii in that only the center point is of any use.
What are the main advantages over the 60D other than ISO capabilities and image quality?

I suppose it's down to how you shoot. I pretty much always BBF using the centre point and recompose.

I have only just recently set my 6D up to BBF, not really used that technique yet since setting it up. Was hoping to get out today and give a a try with my new 100 L Macro.

I have just placed an order with Panamoz for the 6D and 24-105 kit lens , the wait is going to kill me :)
Where is the best place to buy a 3rd party grip & batteries.

ditto that makes two of us! Cannot wait to get it!

Ordered mine from Panamoz also, it was despatched on Tuesday and arrived with yesterday morning, great service and price with them.

Not really had chance to play with it much but first impressions are WOW !!!

Mine has also arrived today from Panamoz , great service.

Another positive experience with Panamoz! excellent service and camera is perfect!

Just blown away by its low light performance! just need to improve the divvy using the camera!!!

Hi people

I am considering the 6D for its FF as I am coming from a 7D and 500D. I am planning to sell off the 500D and keep the 7D for sport.

I currently have a Sigma 50mm 1.4, Tamron 17-50mm non-VC, Sigma 10-20 and a Canon 70-200 F4L. I intend to keep these and use the Tamron and Sigma for the 7D.

Anyhow, DigitalRev sell either the 6D with the EF 24-105mm for £1539.00 or with the EF24-70mm F4L IS for £1699. Either of these are within budget.

The rationale is that the 7D is kind of noisy in low light (but I love the camera for action) and I have an in-law's wedding - shush at the back - to shoot.

What lens bundle would you recommend? I am not up on the differences between the 24-105 and the 24-70mm, apart from the obvious differences in reach.

Ta!

Both lenses are very good. The 6d is quite a light body and I think the 24-70 is a lot heavier (you might like to check the specs) and you might find that this does not feel so well balanced as the 24-105 when fitted on the 6d.

Yes I guess you are right. Now you have the relative weights my comment re the 6d weight and which lens would be better balanced on it are reversed.;)

Thanks for the replies...

Uh, so the 24-105? It is a fair bit cheaper, same F4 and... damnit, 70g heavier... :D

I can manage the weight, I guess.

Actually, Panamoz has the body and the 24-105 @ £1300.55 via BACS...

Now, BACS... could this possibly burn me at all? If I pay by credit card, I have cover. But BACS surely doesn't have the same level of security.

Are these guys/girls legit?

Yes, panamoz are legit. Plenty folk on here have used them and paid by BACS.

Just search for Panamoz and you should find a few threads about them

I'm buying from Panamoz later this month and I have no doubt they are legit but I will be paying via credit card, the extra £70 insurance on getting my money back if they go bust (or anything else) is worth it IMO. It still works out £500 cheaper than a UK store

Sorry, but is this a 6D Owners thread or a Panamoz one?

Hi Guys, just picked up a Canon 6D (from 60D), I have just been playing around it and i notice that looking through the view finder there is slight vignetting in the corners. It appears to show in shots too. I have tried with 24-105, 70-200 etc. Is this a feature of a full frame camera? which is adjusted in PP? Just wanted to check really!

I have a 5d mkii and a 6d. I get vignetting on my 24-105 and 24-70. It is easily corrected pp. I think this is quite normal with all lenses on a FF.

Yes it is, most lenses suffer slightly from vignetting and or loss of sharpness in the corners due to the nature of the lens. You don't notice this on an APS-C, unless you use specific EF-s lenses, because you don't use the entire lens area

Sweet, thanks guys, thought that was the case but just wanted to be sure :)

Just ordered one via Panamoz. Just waiting for buyer's remorse to set in ;)

I received my 6D yesterday and had very brief play with it (needed to charge the battery and poor light). One question I am sure that would have cropped up before but I can't find - do you have to connect to a router to use the Wifi function, or can I connect directly to my Android phone (Nexus 4) or Android tablet (Samsung Galaxy tab3)?

Why are you selling the A7? I prefer your 6d output tbh.

Thanks :) I much prefer the OVF and ergonomics of the 6D. I've tried to use the a7 exclusively for almost 4 months, but because I tend to use manual lenses I've really struggled. My shooting style has gone from compose, focus and shoot to compose, zoom in, check the focused area is showing moire, shoot which feels unnatural to me. I really like the weight of the a7, and its looks, but that's all it has over the 6D IMO.

Thats what I found.
