A friend of mine has a problem with his Canon EOS 550d

He is getting "error code 80 shutter speed"

Can any of you Canon users give me some advice I can pass on.

I guess I tell him to buy a Nikon but that isn't probably what he's looking for....

Hi Canonbabie, I'll ask, although not sure we will get it as I think all the controls have locked up.

Great minds think alike.....unfortunately we've already been down that route.

When the camera was first shown to me it was totally unresponsive, did nothing no matter what I did, so I removed the battery left it for a couple of minutes then put it back and switched on.
Camera reported a completely dead battery.
Deduced its possibly a faulty battery or charger.

He bought a new battery and charged it, put it in then we got the error.

He's unable to determine the firmware as its not responding to anything at present.
 
Isn't there a small cmos type battery in the camera that you need to remove as well to get the camera to reset itself?
