is the EOS 40D an APS-C or APS-H.....?
If its H does that mean EF-S lenses won't work with it?
 
Not a happy man here!!

I only got my 30D a month ago!! Looks like that will be for sale shortly

Why? It's not as though the 40d is that much better than the 30d is it? Unless you 'really' need the features of the 40, stick with the 30...
 
Allan (ruralscotland) I too got mine a few weeks ago, and will hapilly offer you £300 for yours.. I love it, coming from a 300d..

I've only just got my 30D too.... the 40 has some things I like... particularly the extra FPS - I've only had the 30 out in anger once so far, but already appreciate what extra FPS can do for motorsport!
 
I only just got my 400d and really like the look of the 40d especially as it has spot metering. can't believe the 400d does not have that.

the 40D is available form sellerrs in hong kong for £650 plus postage, some do import tax refunds too.....tempted?
 
The 30D has spot metering too... probably the 20D as well...

Patrial vs spot usefullness probably is pretty specialised territory anyway - given that its a 9% centre circle vs a 3.5% centre circle, or at least it is with the 30D anyway - can't see it changing much!

A better AF system will help more than an extra 1.5fps IMO. The 40D has that too apparently :shrug:
 
The 20D I use is still in my head a better camera than my 30D.

I don't know what it is, just prefer the 20D, but I really like the look of the 40D, there are a few extras over the 30D, higher resolution, bigger screen, faster fps, better AF, the list goes on, and with the 20D having such a long run, why the heck is the 30d's so short?

If I were to choose between a 20D and 30D from scratch, 20D would win easily!!
