EOS 40D Metering Mode

I've noticed a few images where the exif data shows the metering mode for some images taken with a 40d as 'Pattern'.

I can't find this on my 40D or reference to it in the manual.

My manual shows just 4 metering modes available - Evaluative, Partial, Spot and Centre-weighted average.

So is Pattern metering done in PP or have I missed something

Yes - definitely evaluative. Good old Canon.

I think it's a 3rd party software thing, probably due to Canon calling their system 'Evaluative' and Nikon calling theirs 'Matrix', but they're both different forms of pattern metering.
