Yes
I've had my 40D for nearly a year now but I have only just noticed that my lenses have a slight amount of play when connected to the camera.

I have checked 3 lenses and each one slightly rotates when locked on to the camera body.

Is this normal or should I return it for a warranty repair?

Many thanks

Alan

My Sigma 120-400mm lens has a very small bit of play when connected to my 40D. My dad has the same gear and his moves a tiny bit too. My other, smaller lens have no play in them at all. To be honest, as long as it still takes a good shot them I'm happy with mine. I think it may be a case of "they all do that sir".

I only really noticed the play when I put my camera on a tripod today and noticed when I was pressing the shutter button the camera was moving.

I thought maybe I had not tightened everything properly, but when I checked, the tripod and everything else was 100 % stable except for the camera which moved around the lens

Surely this is not right?

Only a small amount of movement but that can make all the difference...

Ah, that sounds a little more serious. I can't actually see my lens move, but you can feel a very very slight movement when you turn the zoom ring. I'd send it back for repair if it was that bad.
