Hello All,

During my last snowboarding trip, I used my friends EOS 20D camera with some great results of jumps (shooting continuously) etc. I would now like to purchase my own DSLR for future trips.

I know that the 40D is just out. But I was happy with the results using the 20D. I am wondering if the new EOS 400D (cheaper model) would give results equal to the old 20D?

I look forward to your advise.

Cheers,
Tom

Have a look at the 30D model, I reckon the price will have dropped a fair bit by now.

a few years ago i brought a 20d, and found that for sport it just did not cope - i sold the 8Mp 20d that i had owned from new and brought a secondhand 4Mp 1d. The difference was startling - i now own 3 1 series cameras and will never consider buying anything else (no i won't touch the 5d either) - it's not all about how many MP....

I doubt if you will you'll get a 20D now unless it's a good secondhand one. I notice London Camera Exchange are offering trade in's for 20D's against 40D. They may get some takers but personally I don't think the offer is that great.

Would the 400 give better results than the 20D provided the same lens was used? probably.

The question really is how much do you want to spend ?

Go to your local Canon dealer and have a look at the 400D and make your own mind up.

If you want to see some sample picture from both cameras. why not try D P review.

Important fact to bear in mind the lens you use has as much bearing on you final image quality as the camera it's used with
