I'll probably get shot down for this but I can't see the point of that camera at all.

21 megapixies packed into a tiny little 35mm sized sensor that can only use canon lenses. You'll be able to fly the new airbus through the holes in quality that'll produce. The mark II has already taken enough stick for going beyond the limits of available lenses.

At that price you're getting pretty close to a leaf Aptus 22Mp on a mamiya or contax using far far better lenses and getting real 16 bit capture.

I agree with you, Canon are now upgrading a lot of L series lenses to match the 1dsmk2. So the 21 meg mk3 will need even more top class lens upgrades. But i use the 1DSMK2 and the 1DMK2N and there is a big difference in quality, even with the current L lenses.

The 1Ds MkII I bought came from a photographer that sold up all his Canon gear and went Hasselblad. Obviously for him that quality was what he needed for his professional requirements. Other pros will have different requirements and the 1ds MkIII will probably fill that gap wonderfully.

Having moved from the 5D to the 1Ds I see not holes but an advancement in fine image quality which suits me very much. It remains transportable in a way that a medium format would not which again suits me.

Horses for courses and and all that.

Wonder how much my mkII has depreciated on this news......

No worse than any Nikon, which, at the D2Xs' spec in full frame should be about 29 Mp if it were full frame...

And we know what Nikons do with noise:lol::lol::lol::boxer::boxer::boxer:

Check out the cropping and interpolating test I did on that same sample image..

Just awesome IMO.

Well we have a price! Warehouse Express are taking orders at only £5999.

Best of both worlds? :D

Hmmmm.. it's a lotta wonga. I've got an ISA which isn't doing much.

fine , if you have money falling out of your a%^$.how many people realy NEED a camera with that kind of performance. not to mention arms like a body builder to use it.we run 5d and 30d,s for wedding work , and they do us fine. £1500 or less buys a 5d and you dont have to buy a full set of L lenses either.the gaffer says she would like a mk 111d( not the s) , but we still cant justify the cost. cos shes a little girlie , the weight is a major consideration too.
mark.

People who shoot stuff that goes BIIIIIIIIIIG.

Wouldn't be my choice of how to get that quality though.
