As you may have seen from some of my previous posts I am just starting to get into photography and wish to get myself a dslr, I have used a nikon d100 with a tamron 70-300 lens and got a few good pictures with it so was thinking of getting a d100 body and a tamron 28-200 lens
Are there any other entry cameras and lenses you would reccomend?
I have around £200 to spend on a 2nd hand camera and lens and needs to be suitable for all sorts of shots from close up plants/insects to landscapes/moon
I don't know if I'm asking too much of a budget camera but I will upgrade if I really get into photography anyway

You are asking too much as you will need a macro lens for plants/insects, a wide angle for landscapes and a huge zoom/telephoto for the moon.
You could try them all with the 28-200 but it may not be great for any of them (especially the moon which will still be tiny)
As per other thread, a D100 would be too old when a much newer body can be had for just over £100 (i.e. D3000)

D70 rather than D100? IIRC, it was the 70 that killed the 100.

Again, IIRC, the Tamron 28-300 is the one I used to have a few years ago. Its only good thing was the vesatility the zoom range gave me. Slow, soft (at most apertures), floppy, creepy, it was all these and more. Sold it at a significant loss to someone that wanted that versatility more than IQ etc.

A good 300 will get reasonable shots of the moon as long as there are enough pixies available to crop a bit. FTR, the Tamron I had was not a good 300!
 
Thanks all, I just got a d70 off eBay for a few quid over £100 with everything I need except a lens, and then I bought a tamron 28-200 for £56 so I should have a setup to work out if photography is for me, then I expect I will upgrade and end up spending a fortune ;)
 
just keep off of the equipment section of photography forums and be happy with what you have got to remove upgrade temptation, it should produce images of a good quality. :)
