Can anyone suggest any FREE software for making good quality enlargements?

I currently have CS3 - is there anything better than this for free?

Cheers.

Agreed,

Had to do this some time ago to A0 size, the only one that worked well was Genuine Fractals.

CS3 is actually pretty good at interpolating images up to larger sizes. Use the bicubic softer option and it should be ok.

How big is the original image and what size are you aiming for? It may be worth looking at what's called 'stair or step interpolation, where you increase in 10% steps until you get your desired size.

Are these for printing? If so, dependant onthe resolution of the printer you may get away with not interpolating at all. I had a 30x20 print from my d70 via photobox and it came out fine.

I would advise against step upsizing as you are upsizing information which has already been generated and not originally there, its been proven that with all the latest versions of software upsize in one go, bicubic smoother.

Its diffrent when going smaller, where step size decrease is better, using bicubic sharper.

in recent test CS3 is as good as genuine fractals.
