Quick question if you please. I have a LPL6600 (Jessops) Enlarger and manged to get a neg carrier and an 85 mm lens for 120 negs and was feeling quite pleased with myself. Now somebody mentioned I might need to get a different condensor too... surely not? I hope not:bang:

I can't say for certain with that enlarger but it's a possibility. I've got a Durst enlarger and I have to switch the diffusion box between 35mm and 6x6. Luckily it's built in and is just a flick of the lever, hopefully someone with an LPL will be along to tell you yours is similar.

I don't think you need one. I've got a 6x7 LPL and all you do is use the same head for 35mm or M/F.

If you have a colour head then you just use the magenta and yellow to change contrast on Multigrade paper.

A condenser head will give you more contrast but will show up every mark on your negatives so they need to be ultra clean and virtually scratch free.

Have you got some pictures of it you could up load to make sure ?

A lot of older condenser enlargers needed the condensers changing to accommodate M/f negs while more modern ones used a single larger one, Using the wrong condenser set will usually cause vignetting of the light falling on the negative carrier. The best thing to do is try it & see but usually it would cause a hot spot, so only the centre of the neg will be adequately illuminated. hth
