I mean look at Italy, two 0-0 draws in a row.
To be fair, last night's game was only 0-0 thanks to Serbia's drunken fans...they must've been steaming last night.

I don't think it was kick and rush at all. the two wingers were getting lots of possession and creating chances down each side. All credit to them - I think their execution of their pace was one of the best parts of the game.
Well, I don't recall too much composure, composed possession, ball retention or the creation of that many chances, and what happened when plan A failed of 2 wingers and a lump upfront to bang it on his head to, oh yes Mr Capello went to Plan B and changed it to erm, oh yeah a different winger and lump upfront to bang it on his head to... Only they couldn't cos the left footer was playing on the right and the right footer was playing on the left, and even when they got to the byline they couldn't get a decent ball back across cos they were using they're wrong foot. Did Mr Capello think to even suggest swapping over for a few minutes to see if this would unsettle the opposition, you bet he did, sorry didn't... Yep, master tactician at work last night right there.
Where are Montenegro ranked 35th, 40th and we can't overcome a team like that? Sorry Joe, I admire your loyalty to Capello but he's not taking us anywhere near glory at present with his tactics or his thinking when we can't turn teams over like that. Good teams may have off nights, but they can find the goal that's needed, they can grind out the win that's required, sadly under Capello England can't and most likely never will do.

so it was, I hadn't even seen that till now. After drawing 0-0 against NI you wouldn't have fancied italy for that though.

Does Capello really know what he is doing?
He picks Bothroyd for the France game and drops Davies who looked fine in his appearance last time and is having a good season!!! What was the point of picking him last time.
He also only puts Cahill in as a result of injuries when he should have been there all along??? And why Barry is still there is beyond me? Kevin Nolan has been very good for years. Why Richards or Smalling. Hate to say it but Phil Neville has been very good of late. Jarvis at Wolves has been playing well too. Appreciate he has injury issues, but why is he avoiding many of the form players?
Fair point about Davies, but what was the point of picking him last time then? And Bothroyd is 28 so not a young player?
Right now, we are playing the poorest I think I have seen.
The second half will tell a lot about capello, the team he has picked so far are not working. His choices need to make a difference and he needs to choose wisely or we are losing this 3 or 4 nil
the current crop of england players are just not as good as players from other teams. simple.
dont expect another coach to come in and all of a sudden we'll be world class. its going to take a lot more than that, a lot more
why watch football when there is formula1?

I don't expect World Class but competent would be nice,oh and playing players in their natural positions (Milner is not a left winger)

Maybe, when you compare to Spain or Holland... but no-one could argue our players are worse than USA, Algeria or Slovakia, yet we couldnt beat 2 of them in the World Cup.
France did worse than us in WC, yet look loads better than us now (hint: they replaced their muppet of a manager). I would not say they are any better than us player for player wise. Only Carroll has looked any good tonight, and he has had naff all service.
As I speak we are now 2-0 down. French look to be playing as a team and that is down to the manager.
Must remember this when I am a manager... when 2-0 down, take off the only player who has looked any good (with no service), Carroll!!!
the starting 11 in the french team are very different to the team who sucked in the world cup, plus there was a lot of unrest in the camp under that manager. that isn't the case in our camp.
our team is just weak, carroll and gerrard are the only two who have put in a performance tonight. the team has been weak on tactics but also individual play has been weak.
sudely you know why he took him off?
slight injury, newcastle have expressed concern, they need him fit for the weekend and this is a friendly. thats one decision you cant pin on capello.
And the likes of Rio and Barry will be back again next game as if nothing has happened! I know we have injuries but the players do not seem to give a monkeys, something that comes from the manager. I dont think that on paper the French are that much stronger, and in any case, when did that matter? Blackpool last season were rubbish on paper and got promoted!!
I know we have injuries, but no callup for Nolan and Barton who have done great for Newcastle, Parker who has done great for West Ham, or Davies, or Cahill (made bench at last minute) or P Neville, to name but a few...
all round it's been weak.

Agreed, our players do not have as much skill, and they seem to lack the natural ability and vision, which was obvious in players like Nasri, Benzama, Sanya and others.
We still cannot pass fluently, so our build up play takes to long to achieve anything. We also used the long ball too many times, which is basically just a 50/50.
This is not down to the manager, it is down to the resources, the raw materials.
What is down to the manager is
Playing a centre half at right back
Playing an attacking midfielder in Jordan Henderson in a holding role
Playing a right winger on the left and a left winger on the right
Playing Gerard as a striker
Not reciognising that Barry is not an international player
But what really hacks me off is the pundits saying that we need Lampard and Terry back as if they have not proved time and time again that they are failures at England level
Not sure where you got the playing gerrard as a striker from, gerrard the scouse bloke with the flat hair do and the frown, the guy with the pony tail was andy carroll. Gerrard was playing off carroll just like he does week in week out behind torres for liverpool and he plays very well there.
The others, well jury is out, If you asked adam johnson if he wanted play on the left he'd say no thanks. He suits the right and thats where he mostly plays. Positions being right or wrong I don't think those were the reasons we didn't beat France.
We haven't beaten them for 15 years, so it's not like other managers have had the right solution. France are a better team than us individually, simple as that.
Gerard was to my mind in the first half almost playing on Carroll's shouldcer he is at his best and most influential playing playing 10-15 yards deeper as he did in the second half
He did play very well in the second half, but I would say only the last 20 mins when he actually got a bit further up the field like you say 10-15 yards deeper than carroll.
At the start of the first half he was very deep, too deep almost because france had been bossing the midfield and they needed him in there to control the play a bit more.
Quite honestly, thats why you need a gerrard and a holding midfielder in the team, so gerrard can play off the striker and someone of his quality can stay back and boss it. Who is that person though?
It's supposed to be gareth barry, it's where people put lamps, but doesn't always work. Paul scholes would do it if he were in the team, and really someone like hargreaves or carrick should be that person as well but carrick never seems like he can pull that off and well, hargreaves we all know why he's not in the team.
I would like to see Jay Spearing get a call up because with some experience over the years I think he could play that role very well.
