Energy Subsidy rebate, got yours yet?

I have been checking my BG account for weeks and it tells me "Sorry, your plan balance and status are currently unavailable." followed by

"We’re currently billing your account

This can take upto 24 hours. In the meantime, you won’t be able to access certain features on your account - but it’ll all be back to normal as soon as we’ve finished."

It must mean when BG is finished!!!!! :) I thought that they were "finished" years ago!

Just tried to have a virtual chat and:-
I’m very sorry, all our agents are busy right now. Please try us again soon and we’ll do our best to help you.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

I'm with EdF; I got my first instalment a few days after my DD went out.

Just to clarify it is Pensioners Households that get the extra £300 not individual pensioners.

But only if the pensioner's birthday is before 25th Sept 1956. My birthday is 28th Sept 1956 and I don't get the winter heating allowance at all this year, never mind the extra. What a blunt, stupid system with such an arbitrary date.

Exactly the same for me, very annoying and want to see what my new DD payments will be.

I'm with Octopus and I must admit it's all been very easy. They wanted to reduce my DD to take into account the £400 government rebate but I have up it slightly as I had worked out my expected bill for the next two years under the original Energy Price Guarantee and rather than pay a little less for six months I just averaged it out for the two years.
I've decided to leave it where it is at the moment and re-evaluate it when I know the prices going forward now that they've cut it from 2 years to about 6 months.

A screenshot of the government credit going into my energy account.

b****r ! :(
I'm inside that, seems I'm getting £500 sometime before end of November.
At least that negates the almost £100 increase for errr the following 5 months. By which time it should be warming up again.
Not that its really cold so far , and the heating isn't really eating much in the way of ££ at the moment at least.

We are with EON, the DD has been the same for the last four months, no sign of a reduction or a credit into our account.
I think we are being taken for a ride, it is a bl**dy disgrace.
Well given it only came into force in October….. anyway this is what Eon are doing

That's extremely unfortunate for you and the others that share your DoB but I suppose they have to pick a date and even 01/01/1957 is an arbitrary date which would annoy some people.

I just don't understand why (for the winter fuel allowance) they can't make it £50/month from October thru March, for anyone who receives the state pension on the 1st of any of those months. Yes, a bit more IT to do, but not at all difficult.

My SOEnergy debit taken today - and yes it is at the reduced rate showing that the discount has been applied.
I also received a letter from Belfast yesterday confirming that I would be getting the Winter Fuel allowance increased payment as well

I had this, but a day or so later and using the old BG system, not their 'new' system which it seems to deafult to, I got a DD figure, amazingly using the last two years winter months as an average, and applying the current tarriff, its only £6 from my figures.

How do you access the old system please David?

My last two debits to my energy account have been lowered by £66, that doesn’t lower my energy bill that just enables me to spend the money elsewhere, anywhere else, not the best method as I could use it for wine, women and song if I wished?

Trying to speak with BG

Apparently its usually quicker to start a webchat than to call, apart from the Webchat being about as helpful as typhoid im number 63 in the queue.....

Im day 11 post my DD so should of had £66 back into my account. I was £15 in credit on the 19th October when they moved my account to the new system so they refunded this and dropped my DD by £40. Tried to up it but it was too close to the day the DD is taken, now trying to up it and there is a constant error.
At my current DD rate I estimate I will be £1k in dept in April at which point they will likely want to double Tripple my DD from what its currently on

The winter savings thingy has been launched as well for folk with smart metres they will pay you to not use leccy at peak times,
ime in if i get offered its a no brainer :)

I'm sort of guessing that's probably the idea, that instead of spending it on energy the really struggling spend it on food, of course some will just think hey I've got an extra £400 to spend on that new lens :ROFLMAO:.

As you say not the best way, but certainly the simplest as far as the government is concerned

Yes I signed up for this, not at all sure how it actually works. On the given times when they want you not to use electric, do they compare how much you normally use to the "saved" amount before paying us.

not sure i think it just analyses your use between times and yes if you are below a certain amount pre kwh ?
i'm interested to see as myself, free money :)

Crazy idea refunding it the bill payers bank account as they did with mine.
A lot of people will just spend it on other stuff especially with Christmas coming.
Maybe that's the plan, inject some cash into the high st and let the energy companies own the ensuing debt.
After all Mr Sunak did introduce bribe to take a risk at the height of the epidemic to help the hospitality industry

Octopus give more details. They look at the 10 days before the "saving session" with tweaks for weekdays. If you opt in to a session they pay you for power usage that is less than this baseline.

So if your average usage for that hour is 3kw and you only use 1 you get paid for 2. It's a rolling baseline so it may get gradually harder to beat it.

Won't help me as my usage in daylight hours is currently zero but I'm in the fortunate position of not needing a further discount on my bill. You can also choose to donate the saving to somebody who did need it via power credits.
