No
Maybe there wasn't any in the first place ..... but the news that those journalists have been put in prison is crossing Egypt off our list of places to visit.

"Spreading false news"?
Blimey, I bet there's a few Daily Mail journalists knocking Egypt off their holiday destination list too!

I have been sort of following this story for the last year, and it seems that the court were going to find some way of charging and convicting them, come what may.
The "Arab Spring" seemed like such a good idea a few years ago didn't it?

There's no extradition treaty between Australia and Egypt so I'd imagine the possibility of Mr Greste being returned to serve any sentence is remote.

there wasn't .. in fact you will be pushed to find any country in the world that truly has free speech....the amount of free speech you get varies depending where you are.. but don't fool yourself into believing it exists because it hasn't ever!

The report I heard said that he would be limited where he could travel due to the extradition treaties Egypt has with other countries. I haven't looked up which countries this means it is a risk for him to visit. We live in interesting times. Wish we had been to see the Valley of the Kings already.

To be honest, if you rule out visiting every country that's made a dodgy legal or political decision, your holiday options are going to be seriously curtailed.

And Quinton! (Though really....who would?)

you live nearer than me ,,,,,,,,,,,,,i'll let you go first ! just do it in daylight to give yourself a chance .:D

Neeeeever gonna happen

Questioning them about IS and PKK.
They are so much opposite to each other that seeing it in the same sentence makes no sense. (Linking them to both)

The Turkish gov has always tried to keep foreign journalist out of Kurdish areas, they usually just expel them from the country,i guess the Egypt thing their going to see how fat they can push it (n)

They will probably back down in the end and just deport them but they just try to put the fear in them.
Also sending message to the other journalists.
Can you imagine doing the same thing if you are a local journalist?
Scary...
They have a very difficult job those journalists.

Considering what vice news specialises in, it is not that surprising and not the first time for them either. Not there and many other places. I'd say it is a standard occupational hazard for them.

The worlds press is so bent that I,m afraid I agree with this ,the old adage good news is no news holds true and all most of these so called reporters are doing is twisting the facts to there own point of view ,one that will no doubt line there pockets whether or not it costs innocent lives in the process .

And governments are not bent or twist fact or line their own pockets

I don't want to think what the world would have been like if we didn't have the journalists.
Of course some might bend the rules sometimes but governments or people with the power more so in my view.
It is a noble profession and few exceptions can't change that.

I'd suggest it a profession full of chancers with little or no journalistic capabilities, and that journalists with any integrity are in the minority.

Recent incidents in Turkey would prove what would happen if the press is siding with the party in power. They didn't report so many incidents that the country is in turmoil again.
They shut down twitter, facebook, YouTube etc so easily that if it was not for few exceptional journalists then we wouldn't even know what they were up to.
The environment is so tense over there now. Some say they are walking into dictatorship blindly and they don't even realise it all thanks to the media which reports what the people in power want them to report.
Sad really.

In so many developing countries they risk their lives to make a difference
I have a great respect for the real journalists.
The world would be a bad place without them.
Even though there are some bad examples out there.
