And another cracking shoehorn, really like the letterbox crop and the warm colours, I wish it was like that here today
'news' TP 52 week 46 by Emma Varley, on FlickrThanks Mark - I did think afterwards I could have used some Leonard Cohen sheet music - if I'd been at my parents' I'd have had a fair choice of record covers, tooWiki said :

Damn, thats some fine subtlety Em, good job.
I was wracking my brain looking for a Leonard Cohen connection.....
Nicely done.
No shoe horn required Emma, it works on a few levels, well thought outbut then again subtlety is surely just a polite word for shoehorn?

Thanks Tim. I did consider the cloning, but quite liked how straight and clear they were, though I can see what you mean. And there was me thinking it was a play on the word POST
The pano effect works nicely and the blues are really strong.
I know it was there, but I would have been tempted to try to clone out the track marks in the beach as they present a second leading line, but with no target.
Thanks Tim - I found the composition of this really tricky...give me nature any day!Nicely done Emma. I quite like the use of the dynamic lines leading you in from the top right to the sheet music.
Thanks Allan - I thought so too!Works for me, it's a poor theme to be fair so why not a shoehorn
I tried so many different compositions - for something so simple it was a nightmare! I almost went for the lines on the sheet music running in the same direction as the guitar strings, but that took the emphasis off the words and when I looked at this one I quite liked the contrast between the straight sheet and diagonal, curved guitar. I appreciate the feedback, though.Old news is still news, not sure on the composition but I like the idea behind it, I think the sheet music is a little to straight and cut off, if you see what I mean

Thanks Dean for the encouraging feedback - I found the guitar very tricky! It's William's new hobby and I have to say it's a very pretty guitarVery nicely set up and lit Emma, spot on theme wise for me, and love the warm glow of the guitar![]()
Thanks Carl - William following in his musical sister's footstepsExcellent submission Emma - clever thought out. Love the lighting (and the guitar).![]()

Thanks StanNice composition with the guitar at an angle against the straight sheet music.
Ah! Good for you - works a treat. It's on my X'mas list so maybe .......I bought the tent that I saw you discussing in another thread (don't you love TP tips?

News - inspired take on the theme, well executed
peaceful pier by Emma Varley, on FlickrThat it is, pretty defect free too at the moment !!!Thanks Dean for the encouraging feedback - I found the guitar very tricky! It's William's new hobby and I have to say it's a very pretty guitar![]()
I like that Emma I like that a lot
A very nice re-shoot Emma I can see that hanging on a wall![]()
Ooooo LOVE that Em, that particular image works well with that sky for me, anything much more dramatic would take away from the structure![]()
Love it Emma ...a very enviable photo, definitely one for on the wall![]()
Was going to say the cheeky pier shot is nice compo but then saw the simpler compo with more pier detail in the creamy water .... and that's really nice.
And yes a Leonard Cohen song would have been spot on.
The reshoot is very good, lovely muted tones and the black pier nicely placed across the horizon.![]()
Thanks everyone - that's lovely feedbackReshoot is much neater and nicer looking for it I think Em.
I prefer the second long exposure shot of the pier. The longer the better...
Great composition for news, and great idea.
Thank you both - this was taken using my very cheap 10 stop. I'm glad the colour correction worked - it does give quite a strong blue cast.Hi Emma.
Blimey, 30 seconds at 08:44. I'm guessing you've got an ND filter.
Good job ensuring there is no colour cast. PLenty of detail in the shot. Works for the theme for me![]()
Thanks Carl - that's what I was hoping forExcellent Emma - lovely soft tones to the sea and sky. A calming feel to it.
