weekly Em's 52 for 2016 - Celebration added

Though choice Emma but IU think I'm with Carl No 2 for me 2 great images that work so well for the theme

Great choice for the theme Em, I prefer the second shot myself, although I'd love to pluck out that thick blade of grass on the same focal plane, love the DoF and general dreamy feel to it :)

Beautiful poppies Emma .....I like them both, I was going to agree with DK about the blade of grass but in a way I like it, you've certainly nailed capturing a gorgeous dreamy tone ...really nicely done
Thank you both. That's an interesting one about the grass. I left it there because I liked the way it sort of framed the poppy - maybe it's a bit close to the top of the flower?

Nicely captured Emma, the close up wins it for me :)

I prefer #1, I like the details in the macro shot.

Well would you believe my luck. I saw the new theme just before leaving work to go for a wander around a local country park, and shortly after arriving I stumbled on these two beauties hidden in the grass. I honestly think I could have sat on them and they wouldn't have moved...they clearly had their minds on other things

Hi Emma. Well spotted. Never seen anything like them before - very colourful. Excellent use of DoF to make the subject pop.

2nd one is excellent, well spotted would be easy to miss I'm sure

Hi Emma,

Brilliant find the second one for me as we can see more detail in the moths colours and wings more clearly

I agree Mark - I put the first on the thread though as the grass around it suggests hidden more, I think.

Opps thought they were for Life :facepalm: For Hidden it has to be No1.

Right I'm off to Specsavers......

Second one for me Emma, never seen these before must admit. Guess they were well 'hidden' I need to pay a little more attention while I am walking.

I prefer the second of the two shots, Em. As per Chris, I'll tie it to the theme by virtue of the fact I've never seen anything like them when out for a walk myself! :)

Nice detail, DoF and those lovely red spots. Well spotted and captured.

Can we stop with the "Well spotted" gags please :) Very good Emma, second shot for me, nice and sharp with good details

I like both the poppy pictures particularly the 1st one. I like that you have caught the glint of sparkle of gold in the wings in your hidden pictures

Flora - #1 for me too Emma, I prefer that the poppy fills the frame
Hidden - #2 this time, but for the same reason, it fills the frame more completely and the background is more blurred.

Thanks Chris - I'm forever surprised at what I find when I really look!

Thank you Ian - i find when I'm out and about with my macro lens I'm better tuned in to tiny things :)

Well caught and nicely captured. The first one is more theme fitting. Spot-on focus and good use of dof.
Thanks Stan - I agree the grass helps it fit the theme..no shoehorning here, honest guv :D

Very good Chris :) Thanks for the lovely comments.

Thank you Minx - I was worried the sun would blow the highlights, but it was more eye-catching than the ones I had when the sun went behind the cloud.

Flora - #1 for me too Emma, I prefer that the poppy fills the frame
Hidden - #2 this time, but for the same reason, it fills the frame more completely and the background is more blurred.
Thanks Tim - I still find getting the dof quite right with the macro lens a challenge - glad it worked for you here.

Hi Emma ....two really super shots again ...hard to choose between them both, I think for the theme probably the first one, smashing DOF.
Thanks Susie :)

Hi Emma

Love poppy images ... I'm liking #2, blade of grass inc. natural habitat.

and the Hidden treasures, yes what a find! Nice work.

#2 for me, I like the details of the closer crop. Hidden treasures indeed.

We're away in my home city of Stoke at the moment. I had been hoping to capture one of the few bottle kilns left in the city - a real icon for me, but there's too much fun to be had catching up with family to think about that one at the moment! Anyway, not far from my parents' is a park built on top of an old open cast mine - another industry whose loss has changed the city's identity beyond recognition from the place I grew up in. This pit wheel is the lone remaining symbol for miles around of that industry and the plaque very moving for the granddaughter of a miner injured in a fall.

Very poignant indeed Emma!

I think I'd have been inclined to lose the sign in #2 but that still remains my favourite, the blue sky back drop complimenting the blue wheel.

Thanks Chris...I don't have access to any of my usual editing software here, so it had to stay put unfortunately. I did try with Windows 10 photos but it was a bit of a disaster

Hi Emma. Very nicely taken - hard choice but I do love that lovely panoramic and excellent sky in #1.

I like all them Em, although the last one feels a tad dark for me, and the simple symmetry of the second is lost with the gate (not your fault of course), the first one however is very nice, liking the PoV, the path coming in from the corner and the immense wheel dominating a cracking sky, loads of interest in that image, very nice

Thanks Dean - I think you summed it up perfectly. My step dad was a bit bemused as I wittered on about the gate being in the 'wrong' place and wondered who on earth would think about putting a red sign just there! There's a great view over the ridge, too but without growing a few feet I was never going to get that in as well  The last is just a crop of the second to show the writing better.
