weekly Em's 52 for 2016 - Celebration added

Hi Emma

Rough - such a simple image but so much to look at. Perfect.
Colourful - two great images but I like William's colourful clothes and the magazine. Nice DoF too.
Entrance - is missing ?
Size - super images, nice and sharp and wonderful colours.

Thanks so much for you lovely comments Lee. I can see entrance on the thread? Maybe just a temporary glitch?

Definitely no shoehorn required, I thought we were going to see more macro this week. These are first rate Emma.

Hi Emma

I don't any shoehorns here just 2 cracking shots. I really like the colours in No 1.

I really need to get my Macro lens out more!

Hi Emma, that is a crackingly good picture for size and if that is a fruit fly size then extremely well done.

Like you I have little patience for macro as it seems so fiddly but maybe I should give it a try.......I'd have to buy another lens though :p

It's a lot easier when the subject is not moving ;) I've taken a few insects this week with the warmer weather finally coming (don't smirk ;) ) I'm just not sure I'm ready for all the stacking and diffused flash that seems to go with serious macro - so I'll just keep it light :D

Well I had a few ideas for forgotten, but I seem to have forgotten them all after a lovely day out at Amberley Working Museum. It was a traditional crafts day and it was great seeing William's engagement and amazement as he got hands on with some crafts that are in real danger of being forgotten. These were just snapshot jpegs really, but I liked the peek into the broom maker's shed and the contrast between his age and experience and William's youth. The rope making shot I loved for the engagement on William's face and the young age of the expert who was showing him the 'ropes' (groan...!!)

Really like this one. Using ones hands to make things is a disappearing art.

Both good but I like the young lad's expression in #2.

Cheers.

Knot funny :p

Nice set Emma, interesting piece of history too :)

They're more than snapshots Emma, especially #1 which is my fave of the two. Nicely composed, well exposed to show all the detail even in the furthermost corner. Lovely engagement between the generations. Beautiful shot. (y)

Thanks Andy. It's a wonderful place and very close to home. I've never seen so many craftspeople in action as today - we saw wood turners, bodgers (such a great name!), spinners, weavers, potters, stained glass experts and many more, as well as the wonderful steam engines and buses from as early as the start of the 20th century which run round the museum all day - all manned by mostly retired volunteers with so much expertise.

I can appreciate the submissions this week with a story behind them as I feel my own falls int9 this category.

Definitely on topic with your shots and I like them both as shots, nothing between them for me. Well done :)

No: 2 for me too Emma, agree this sort of experience should be pushed much more to the younger generation, hands on is always fun and interesting :)
Thanks ian and Dean. Definitely a worthwhile day out - and William has been making busy with his broom in the house, so added bonus ;)

Quite a poignant reminder Emma, most of our traditional crafts are in danger of being forgotten. It's nice to see
children enjoying a hands on experience over a computer game. I like the concentration clearly shown in their faces.
Nice set these

2 great images Emma I cannot decided which one I like best I love the Background in No1 really adds t the feel of the image. But No 2 is lovely because both faces are in view of the camera

Colourful - both great pictures, the bird is lovely but I like the character of William in his Colourful out fit
Entrance - I like your thinking great shot I like the patterns on the shell
size - I really like the first one very vibrant especially the eyes
Forgotten - two interesting shots it would be a shame if these hand crafting techniques were forgotten

Thanks Chris :)

Nice take ... and I so like candid people pics. (y)

Hi Emma, they're great story telling through pictures, Emma. They might just be jpeg snapshots in your eyes, but you've captured a moment and a memory (which is handy otherwise it might be forgotten... boom boom!)

I like both for different reasons - the composition in the first is stronger to me, but the expression in the second is great. Super job!

A couple of good hots there Emma. I think I prefer the second because you can see both of their faces, and the expression in the little one's face is excellent.
Both shots are spot on theme :)

Beautifully composed shots capturing lovely moments. I think number one for me I just prefer background and lighting

A precious find on the beach from our last holiday in Zakynthos - William's 'dinosaur stone'. I decided on b&w for this one as the variations in skin tone (I suspect grubby hands!) detracted from the stone. It was shot very quickly this morning at about 7am as the light was nice - the poor boy was barely awake and it cost me £1 for him to keep his hands still. Kids these days... ;)

That's a great find, well shot and the mono conversion picks out the details in the stone nicely, worth a quid I recon.

Nicely caught ... pay him the living wage ... but if he's only half awake £1 will do.

Anyway I like the gentle yet meaningful way the - obviously precious - stone is presented. (y)

Thank you David :) If you lot don't keep quiet though there's going to be dissent in the ranks...£1 for 2 minutes work? That's a great hourly rate for a 6 year old :p

That is a lovely find Emma, lovely detail I like the hands holding the stone. The B&W conversion really adds to the feel of the the image

What are the 52'ers turning into? bribery and corruption now, what ever next ? :D

Nice find Emma :)

Wow that's a great find - a lifetime treasure. Nicely taken Emma - the way he's holding the stone speaks volumes about his great find.
