Elyssium

It's not worth shooting each other over!

But Ridley Scott always "denied" the fact that Prometheus was a prequel to the Alien films. :D
(yeah right)
I've yet to see it though. But will at some point no doubt.

**Mod hat on**
Guys a little decorum in forum if you please
(10 points for the first person to ID that (paraphrased) quote :D ))

Actually the blu-rays only £8 so maybe...

I'm guessing I did miss the concept when I watched it. I blame the wine.

Although what thats got to do with living up to being a DorsetDude I know not.

Yeah but not "the" alien. Unless I blinked and missed it. Just some wierd white worm things I remember.

it was right at the end . ( I won't put spoliers for those that haven't seen it yet)

personally I though Prometheus was okay... but didn't live up to its hype

ellysium was cack

You are soooooooooooooooo cold.
Go and have your warm milk and try again another day :)

I thought Elysium was poor, and Prometheus was even worse.

I quite like Sci Fi, but those two were poor. :( I rated Prometheus 4/10 and Elysium 5/10 on IMDB. The overall rating for each is P=7.1 an E=6.7. So I am out of step with the masses.  ;)

I thought District 9 was very good, and an attempt to try something different. :)

If we all liked the same thing they wouldn't make so many films. ;)

whats that sci fi thing with tom cruise and morgan freeman that was out recently ? - that was okay(ish) , took a while to get going but the second half was watchable

Thb...anyone who didn't see the outcome of Oblivion coming right from the start probably gasped in disbelief at the end of The Sixth Sense.

I didn't bother watching the sixth sense - with regard to oblivion , yes it was pretty obvious what was going to happen , but really so what ? That is true of nearly all tom cruise action vehicles - he's going to kill all the bad guys, get the girl, and live happily ever after (unless its samurai in which case he's going to get the girl, kill some of the bad guys and die heroically but pointlessly at the end)

Its pretty obvious what's going to happen in the aliens films (apart from the first one) , but that doesn't stop people liking them , does it ?

Did I say any different? Easy there princess.

It was implied - but you know what, I can't be arsed arguing anymore

Wander heroically off into the sunset, back to the wifey he borrowed his armour from.

Shows how awake i ws - i thought they get machine gunned at the end

They do but it's Tom Cruise and Hollywood you're talking about.

Good point, well made

I think i probably thought ah thats that then and turned it off and missed the last bit - it wasnt all that anyway.

Each to his own I guess, but I started watching it, and was fed up before it was even half way through, so didn't bother to finish it.

So glad I borrowed it and didn't pay for it.

In a word 'disappointing'.

Dave

You might need to clarify as discussion has wandered - are you talking about Ellysium - in which case i agree - i fast forwared to the last half hour in the hope that it would be better... it wasnt

Although I haven't had the "pleasure" of seeing it, I now suspect that both BSM and the OP may have opted for the cheaper "B" versions that often follow big budget fare.
Elyssium and Ellysium are possibly cast full of former 90210 alumni, which is where they may have initially gone wrong.
Elysium, on the other hand, might not be that bad ;-)
Just sayin'.......

very quick - not funny, but quick - Elysium would probably have be better had it featured the cast of 90210 as at least then there would have been eye candy to take the mind off the sloth (they could have cut the first 30 minuites without losing anything), the cliched plot - yay hero saves the worlds population but dies in the attempt - originality at its finest , and acting so wooden it would make Daniel Craig resemble De Niro by comparrison.

another valuable contribution, thanks - might i suggest getting a life as an exciting and original alternative to following me arround taking the P.

Considering I've hardly been around TP for awhile such remark for a pmsl is uncalled for don't you?!

I wonder how long before you do your usual trick of saying what you want then deleting later.....

Bit of paranoia creeping in there. I can't fault your opinions of the film but Ruths' comments were funny to me and Cg_Girl has every right to post in response to them.

Taken in isolation I'd agree, so i'm not having a go at you - but the "Ruth takes the pee out of me while Tracie acts as her cheer leader (or vice versa)"performance started getting old well before this thread - there is background which i'm not going to go into detail with here - suffice to say I used to be freinds with both of them- now we arent.

I'd love to just forget the whole thing and move on like three mature adults, but sadly it seems like this isnt going to happen any time soon. Most of the time I ignore the childish sniping, but periodically when i've otherwise haven't had a good day it pees me off to the point where I lose my rag.
