Garry, as he's quoting Elstree, I'd guess that he was looking for servicing, preferably authorised.

Any ideas?

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum

Are you a Nikon NPS member, i have always found them very helpful. I'm sure they will be able to tell you the nearest authorised service centre

Thanks Andy.

I am a NPS member but think it helps to have some real world examples from fellow users.
I just wondered if anyone had any particular recommendations.

Can't help there i'm afraid, haven't sent my kit for a service yet.

All i would say is avoid Lehmans (from personal experience, though with Canon)

Yes, avoid Lehmans like the plague, garbage service and failed to spot a faulty IS motor on my 400mm f/2.8 when i was a Canon shooter.

Though i should thank them as eventually my kit was sorted and now works brilliantly ;)

Out of interest, apart from the distance why avoid Fixation?

No probs. I haven't had a problem with them in the Canon camp, in fact quite the reverse, but then I do live just around the corner! :D

I too have used fixation in the past to service Canon kit. Found them to be extremely helpful and kit came back perfect. However, they are quite pricey compared to Canon themselves. Not sure how they fair against Nikon's prices
