Elitism - why?

I think it is hilarious when (always male) toggers are checking out my kit from a distance, trying to see what size/type my lens is..... get over it boys. It's not what you have, what size it is or how much it cost - it is what you do with it and if you get the results required that count.

On the other hand, they may be genuinely interested in your equipment. That's a bit of an elitist attitude in itself ;)

Wanna bet? ;) The Pentax ME-Super won awards but I remember comparing specs and hankering after the Ricoh KR-10 cos it had a slowest shutter speed of 16 seconds against the four seconds of the Pentax. Most of us thought it was worth paying more for a black prism housing and top plate :cuckoo:

I have to say that I agree here. I turned up at a camera club with my ME Super only to be looked at in disdain by the "top brass" of the club who all shot with Nikon F1's and Canon's. Many thought I should have one a monthly competition but I didn't, and most thought it was because the winner couldn't shoot on a Pentax !! :nono:

In recent years I think it has become far more acceptable to use a number of different brands and people look at the results. Some of my best work was shot on my old Olympus 5050Z 5mp bridge before I ever had a DSLR - I just wish I could get back to shooting that well again !!
