After looking at various outfits, I've decided to stick with Elinchrom and think I'm going to get a couple of Ranger RX Speed kits. Just wondered if anyone here either has them, or used them, and what their experience was of them?

Cheers

Oh right fair enough, the big Rangers it is then!

I don't really know much about the larger model, but one of my mates in the US uses them for snowboarding. I could try and find some of his photos if you want?

Thanks Matt, I've seen plenty of images taken with them. If you get the chance, I'd be more interested to hear what he thinks of them in terms of use and any failings. :)

yea, i have a rx speed AS back at home in the UK, but trying to ship it out here at the moment. They are great to use. for modifiers, 90% of the time I am using either the 26cm sport reflector or bare bulb, so not much experience with large softboxes on. Weatherproofing seems good, snow doesn't seem to bother it. Nice being able to change the power remotely with the skyport RX system too.
Downsides are they are very heavy, but then again so is everything portable in this power range.

Cheers for that mate, I believe you can stand them in a puddle with no problem! I think they're the way to go for me :)

Ok, I'll try and ask him next time he's online. He was really really happy with them last time and said that he's used them in snow and rain with no issues :)
