anyone had a any real world experience - like:

* how many shots full/half power shots can you do outside.
* how long does the battery last (warm/cold weather)

Loads of reviews out there, most of them pretty useless TBH but if you read enough of them... LOL Be aware though that there are different batteries available. On current stuff, I'd prolly go with whatever Elinchrom say.
 
I use Quadra's... usually one on A port, separate one on B port... I can't give you actual shot numbers because I haven't paid that much attention, although I can tell you that they'll get me through a 3 hour shoot, but then powers vary throughout depending on how I'm shooting. Not a lot of help I'm afraid, but I can tell you that they are incredible little powerhouses and I wouldn't trade them for anything.

They started with lead acid and now they're Li Ion, there may have been changes during both those technologies too, so many reviews may equal several different products.

ETA It might help if you tell us what you're expecting? What would you need from it? It might be similar to many current users, which isn't enough for them to be able to say the max that could be expected.

For instance I have a Safari 2, it's been charged 3 or 4 times, and gets used for a max of an hour at a time, so I've no idea whether it's capable of the claimed 600 full power pops.

If this is 600 full flashes, you will need a second battery I think. Around 200 pounds for a Lithium one from The Flash Centre.

Yes, The lithium battery is about half as high as the lead battery. And around half the weight.

If you are planning to buy second hand be careful. The earliest Quadra units are not compatible with the Lithium battery.

You can upgrade the older units to be able to use both batteries.

I have the lead batteries. Of course, it all depends on how much power you using. They don't last long at full power but can go a long time at low power. Obviously.

I've shot with them in ski resorts and they held up pretty well. It's worth having something between them and the snow though.

They are incredibly light and small which is really useful when you need to get a light in a tight space or if you are carrying them around all day.

The added benefit of having the lead batteries is, if you're flying, you can put them in the hold rather than have them with carry on (when using lithium batteries). Saves a bit of space.

Elinchrom have also brought out a new transmitter for Hi-Sync photography. If you buy a new head you can then use it and the transmitter to sync your camera up to 1/8000s of a second.
