Could someone explain to me please why Elinchrom have 3 different fitting types for their lighting systems - Elinchrom Bayonet; E27 and S Fitting.
Is there anyway of changing the bayonet type to the s type fitting
Thanks
Dave

Elinchrom bayonet is their mount for modifiers.

E27 is for the modelling bulbs and is fairly standard among all manufacturers.

S fitting is bowens fitting and has nothing to do with Elinchrom.

Thanks Kris, but now I'm confused....I'm looking at purchasing the D-Lite 4 IT which the spec says has an Elinchrom Bayonet Fitting.
On the WHE site it says the RX 600 has the s type fitting (under the specifications tab)
http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-elinchrom-style-rx600-twin-kit/p1022685
and for the BXRi 500 E27 fitting (under the specifications tab)
http://www.warehouseexpress.com/buy-elinchrom-bxri-500-flash-head/p1028343
If I purchased the D-Lites would it be possible to mount the s type fittings as I understand these fittings are cheaper than the Elinchrom accessories...just a theory!!
Dave.

No, if you want S type mount modifiers just get Bowens/Lencatra or other S mount light.

and for more info look at Elinchrom own website or TheFlashCentre website as they should be more accurate than the WarehouseExpress

WHE dont know *****.

The difference in price between S type fitting and Elinchrom fitting is vastly inflated by people who should know better.

They are almost always the same if comparing a quality brand like genuine Bowens to genuine Elinchrom modifiers. Some excellent modifiers are only available in Eli, like deep throat octas and the original reverse fit Octabox, though I now see Bowens are offering reverse fitting on their octas.

And if you want third party, there is no difference.

Compare the prices here:
http://www.bessel.co.uk/acatalog/Soft_Boxes.html

Look on Ebay for plenty of Eli fit modifiers at equally cheap prices.

The D Lite is an excellent first choice, btw.

The only eli mounts that are different are the quadras. Everything else listing as elinchrom mount will fit any other elinchrom head.

You can get cheap eli fit modifiers from bessel which are perfectly reasonable, the elinchrom modifiers are expensive, but really fantastic, the rotalux octas are great.

Good choice :)

Some very good prices on that link Kris.

I'm liking this one - 120cm fast-folding octa, with double diffuser and including a grid for £70 :) http://www.bessel.co.uk/info/120cm Octobox Speedbox with Grid.html

Thanks Guys really appreciate the very helpful information and links
