Hi all,

Just looking to confirm something, please.

The original Elinchrom d-Lite 2/4 strobes, can a Skyport be added and if so are there any restrictions on the Skyport version? It is my impression this can only be done with the "d-Lite it" and later.

Do they have a pc sync port? If not, how can they be fired other than the optical sensor?

Anyone have a good recommendation for a radio trigger that can be used with a sync port?

Many thanks,
Jenny

The original D-Lites did not have any built-in Skyport.

They're exactly like most other studio heads from a few years ago - fired either by cable plugged into the standard 3.5mm jack, or any trigger plugged into same, or off the built-in slave. The slave is basic optical, not programmable to ignore TTL pre-flashes etc. Some early D-Lites did not have cooling fans, might have been only the first D-Lite 2 - not essential but desirable.

Use any radio trigger, including Skyport. Yongnuo is a good value alternative, plenty of other options.

Thanks. I realise they don't have a Skyport built in, but can it be added and if so, will it just fire the flash or will it allow control of power, too?

I just added an edit to above, but if you want to use Skyport (the advantage being compatibility with newer D-Lites) then you can do that, but you'll need an external receiver unit that plugs into the standard jack, and no remote control.

Thanks, Hoppy, good to know. I'm going to combine them with Speedlites for a while and look to add a couple of d-Lite 4's in the future, so optical sensors now, Skyports later. The 2's can become background lights :)
