Elinchrom and other remotes

Can anyone shed some light (ho ho) on remotes for studio lighting? There seem to be about 3 million products, each incompatible with the other, and at lots of different price points. The Elinchrom range seems bizarrely complicated

I'd like, if possible, something to allow for multiple flash guns when I am out & about and for use with studio lights at home

Do your Elly lights have a remote function? if they did, you may want to consider the Skyport remotes as they'll allow you to change power settings remotely, and work as normal triggers for your speedlites.
Otherwise there are loads out there, do a search on here and you bound to find some reviews. Personally I've only used Skyports, Pocket Wizards and Profoto, all of which work faultlessly, but not the cheapest.

I have Eli lighting and use Pocket Wizards+II's and I have a set of PW Flex for the canon 580EXII's

I have a backupset of PT04's ...can't rem the manufacturer...Except that they have a PC Sync connector so I can either use an adaptor lead or sit the flash in the top hot shoe...(Like the Flex kit)

Skyports are great for the studio but because you can't just change the batteries in the receivers (they're rechargeable) you do have to monitor useage. They work though, and are reliable and well-made.

At work we use Bowens Pulsar triggers, which are a tranciever so each unit can be used as a transmitter and receiver. They're good but expensive.

Both of these options don't have any hotshoes on them for speedlights so even out in the field, they require PC sync cords for connection, which IMO is a pain in the buttocks

I'd go for Phottix Strato 5-in-1s... I have the original version that didn't have an OFF/ON switch on the transmitter but other than that, they work flawlessly with my range of SB speedlights. Plus they come with all the cables and gubbins for use with studio heads AND as remote releases. Range is good and build is very good. The transmitter also has a TTL pass-through hotshoe so you can have a TTL flash connected to the camera for fill light. I got a 1tx + 2rx set and I think it cost about £90 including postage from HK. Received them within a week of ordering

I recently picked up a set of Skyport speed universals on here for £90 (transmitter & 2 receivers) and am well impressed with the performance so far when liked with my speedlights.

In the studio I have used an Interfit flash transmitter and tried a cheaper Little baby trigger set from ebay on my EL500's & Prolinca's, they work ok, you get what you pay for at the end of the day.
