Former British number one tennis player Elena Baltacha has died of liver cancer, aged 30

My thoughts are with her family and friends
 
This is a tragically young age to be robbed of a future and all sympathy to her family on their loss.
 
Just seen this, quite sad after just retiring from Tennis. To be diagnosed in January, and to die so soon, was particularly cruel luck.

That's what I thought but she's had a chronic liver problem since she was 19 which makes her achievements even more remarkable.
 
Liver cancer is one of the hardest to treat. That is such sad news. May she rest in peace.

Yeah, she had sclerosing cholangitis, which frequently leads to liver cancer or other terminal complications and most patients die within a decade or two of diagnosis.

Horrible disease and a tragic situation. RIP.
 
Very sad news and such a shame. She was a great example of how to live your life in spite of everything.
