elements problem

was at camera club tonight taking pics of models on my d7000 2 cards in camera 1 card saving j pegs other card saving raw pics
got home and elements will let me open up my j pegs and adjust:thumbs:
but when i try to open the raw pics i get an error message which says
cannot open as wrong type of file any ideas whats wrong ?????:thumbsdown:

Has it opened that camera's RAW files before?
Check if there's an update available,
 
The chances are your version of elements is older than your camera, try checking the latest update for your version and see if it supports d7000, if not you maye be able to use the free DNG converter from adobe,
Which version of elements do you have?
 
4wd - this is the first time my new camera has had pics downloaded onto the computer

wayne- im using elements 9 look like i will have to see my son in law about the dng convertor

if i use faststone to look at the pics it opens up my raw files ok ????????
i prefer to use elements for my raw files as i find it easy to use the sliders
 
i forgot to say its the first time the computer has had to open the j pegs as well as the raw pics
 
Hi ya

I had the same problem when I got my D7000.......

I found I had to upgrade to Elements 10 to allow RAW files to be opened . I tried downloading all the convertors but none worked . Eventually found info on Adobe site saying D7000 wouldn't work with anything less than Elements 10.

Maybe wrong but it sorted it for me

I have no idea how much it normally is but amazon have Photoshop and premiere elements 11 for £45 at the mo, but it is on their Black Friday deals tomorrow at 5.30pm - don't know the discount till then though!
 
did as you said and done an update on elements 9 and now it is reading my raw files
