I'm trying the trial version of this and although I can apply changes to a RAW file and apply those same changes to all selected RAW files and batch process them I can't see how to do this to JPEG's.

Under "File" there an option to process multiple files including various options including some "quick fix" options but I can't see any way in which I can apply changes such as sharpening level, noise reduction, colour cast removal or anything other than "quick fix" to multiple files in the same way that I can to RAW.

The help file is... less than helpful and Googling only shows the very limited “quick fix” batch processing so I'm wondering if batch processing JPEG's and applying anything other than “quick fix” is actually possible?

Bit of a downer if it's not possible :shake:

I don't use elements but I think you should be able to open jpegs in ACR from bridge (you can in the full version) but I'm not sure if elements ships with bridge.

After playing with E9 for hours and surfing the net for clues I've drawn a blank and I don't think it's possible to batch process JPEG's with the same changes beyond the very limited quick fix options under process multiple files. It's a shame as the E9 RAW batch processor seems to work very well.

Maybe the package has been hobbled so as not to compete with more expensive offerings.

Yes, that works but I can't see any advantage to that for batch processing JPEG's as I can only open one file at a time (control + click will not select multiple files when Open As RAW is selected and this seems strange as I can open as many RAW files as I want from the Open option) and of course in the RAW procesor you don't have access to the tools from the JPEG editor.

Oh well, looks like I'll have to edit each JPEG in turn. It might have been an advantage to be able to batch process JPEG's with more than the limited Quick Fix options available under Process Multiple Files but I still can't see any way in which it can be done.

From bridge selecting several pics and right clicking shold let you open multiply jpegs in ACR (it does in CS5 anyway) don't know why that should be different, you sure theres nothing with layer or formats other that jpeg tiff or raw in the folder?

I have no problem with camera Raw and can open and batch process multiple files.

In the PSE JPEG / TIFF processor screen I can select "File" and can open multiple files using the "open" option by left clicking and dragging the mouse across the files or by Cntr + left clicking but neither option works with "open as" and I can only select one file at a time with this option. Right clicking doesn't give any option that I can use to get over this.

The only way I can see to process multiple JPEG's (or TIFF's) is to use the RAW processor (but then I only have access to the tools that the RAW processor has.)

The "Process multiple files" option under "File" allows some across the batch stuff such as naming and resizing but the only change actions are a few automatic "quick fix" options and I can't see any way that user defined changes can be made in the same way as they can with the RAW processor.

The RAW processor works really well and I can, for example, apply the same white balance, sharpening and noise reduction settings to multiple files but I can't see any way of doing this to multiple JPEG or TIFF files in their normal (non RAW) editor. I think that's a shame but I can't see any way around it at the moment.

The only use I can see for "process multiple files" is for saving all open files once they're been processed individually rather than saving them individually after processing, and that is a help and does save time as the processing can be left to run on it's own while I do something else.

The icing on the cake would have been being able to apply user defined changes to multiple JPEG's or TIFF's other than "quick fix."

Thanks anyway. I'll still buy it.

The Mac version of Elements 8 came with a full version of Bridge, but in their marketing strategy of we'll squeeze every penny out of you for a tiny little upgrade, Adobe dropped Bridge from all Versions of Elements 9.

Is there no mini bridge with elements either?
