Hi,

I've been pulling my hair out trying to use this.
I can get layers into the box on the bottom right of the screen [tiny thumbnails]
but then I can not get them to the large part of the screen to do anything with it!
Its normally me with computers but I have really tried this time.
Best I can get is the layers name on the screen.
I want to buy a book but Iam away at mo [any recommendations?]

Hope one of you can help please.

Hi,
Do you mean the layers pallet?
To move it around the screen I left mouse click on the grey bar at the side of the word Layers and drag it to the position I want.

Click the little eye symbol on the left to make the layer visible - could be the problem.

Best way to get a grip on layers (if you need them) is to get someone to talk you through the processes if that's possible.
 
hi, John, if I left click and drag it says the 'source and destination are the same'
John, the eye symbol[on or off] does nothing just states layer visibility when I hover over it ?

Thanks will have a look,
Just wanted to brighten an object without altering the whole image.
 
You could use a selection tool from the toolbox, set it's parameters on the options bar and then use levels or brightness to adjust just that area. Or you could use the dodge tool from the toolbox.
