Hi

been following a t'internet tutorial on making a frame and adding a matte effect.
Here: http://www.scottkelby.com/blog/2010/archives/12235

The matte bit is basically create a large white square on a layer, slightly larger than the image, which is on the layer above. You then apply an inner glow layer style to the white layer and set the colour to black.

However when I do this nothing happens. :bang: I can change the colour, size and opacity values and nothing ever appears. If I try outer glow that works ok on the same layer, colours change and size as expected.
But I do not want outer glow. :bang:

Anyone help?

Thanks

Are you changing the screen mode to normal? screen hides black, just tried the tut and it works ok.

Hi Wayne

I am using elements so that dialog you have shown doesnt come up. All I get are size, opacity and a clicky box for colour. Most confusing why nothing happens,

Thanks

The green box yes. I tried a vivid colour to try and see if it was appearing anywhere.

Am wondering if its a bug in Elements 7. Outer glow works fine. Perhaps I can try a bevel effect or something instead.

Will have to try the link from home later, access denied atm.

thanks

Normal yes.

Ive since read that elements cant natively "do" inner glow on brighter colours (such as white) because the default non adjustable blend mode (screen?) it uses has no effect with white.

I tried making the white layer black instead and then doing inner glow with a white colour and then sure enough stuff happens. Dont think that will help me achieve the Matte effect though?
