Elemental vs Lancarta ........?

No doubt gary will appear from his lair any moment to tell you how good his Lencarta kit is.

Flash gear is one area that you really don't want to cut too many corners on. Quality and consistency are key to good results. The Lencata kit does seem very good value compared to the prime brands and lots of folks on here appear very happy with it.

I have elemental gear, very good, the lads at elemental will also adjust or create a set of gear for you,ive not had any problems at all,my gear goes in and out of my vehicle,up/down stairs in venues, takes a bit of bashing,as i said never let
me down, give them a ring, you can even travel down to see em if your close or you think you would benefit from their help.

Should be in lighting section. I've asked a passing mod to move.:)

What's the mounting system for the modifiers?

Lencarta use the S-Type bayonet mount which is pretty much an industry standard and gives you a massive range of modifiers to choose from.

Looking at the Elemental gear, the FUG-LE uses a different system of 4 bolts to hold the mod in place. You're looking at the Genesis range before S-Fit appears.

If you're considering investing time and money in lighting you'll end up investing in modifiers eventually, and S-Fit gives you most flexibility. I'd suggest you ignore the FUG-LE units and do a comparison against Lencarta with the Genesis heads. This then moves you into similar price brackets for a 2 head system.

Ahhh never looked into the forgive before.

Can the fittings be changed at a later date? Or do you have to buy a full new piece?

It can't be changed on the modifiers, so best consider this from the off.

You'll have to buy new modifiers when you upgrade your lights (except for umbrellas). The grids, gel holder barndoors and snoot wouldn't fit another mount. You may be able to bodge the softboxes on, but it's not desirable, or safe...

You're also limiting yourself to what you can use in the first place. Fancy a nice collapsible softbox or Octabox, a beauty dish? Well you can't have one because of that stupid mount.

Just phoned lencarta, got some great advice and will probably gone their three headed kit for 450 ish, sounds much better after thinking about it etc

I was going to buy the Smartflash kit last year and was all hyped up to do so at Focus on Imaging... Met up with Garry and had a good chat, the out come was that because I don't really have a space to have lights set up all the time, decided to wait and get the Safari, which I am more than chuffed with..

The S-Fit means should you ever need to, you can get your modifyers from almost anywhere...

Did they give you any indication when they would have stock again? That might be the deciding factor :(

I cant quite remember, but maybe two week rings a bell but I could be talking right out my backside! lol

Might give me time to talk to my bosses at work and see how much more I can get from them at least!

I was talking to Garry yesterday and he's expecting the stock within days rather than weeks.
If its Lencarta you want (and IMO the best bet) then hang on rather than letting impatience decide.

I am a big fan of elemental, but in this case, lencarta all the way.

Of course, if your budget is upped to £450, you can escape the FUGL-E series from elemental... and their new genesis line is -very- well specd for the price. Dead durable too.
