Been looking at various lighting set ups (Lencarta, Elinchrom etc) and saw that Elemental have their older Genesis set up on offer at £340. Are they any good? Can the set up be beaten at their pricing? There is of course their newer, faster set at £330 - similar pricing as Lencarta's twin set.

Any other brands I should be looking at?

Dave really rates their M series stuff and for that money its not far off ex150's (2 head is 200 so add half is 300) and they're *****. Which suggests bargain to me :D

yup, good kit, though as Garry from Lencarta regularly points out, I don't know how well I'd trust the genesis stuff without a fan though...(then again, my kit gets used in pretty rough conditions...) for irregular use over shorter times (ie not all day shooting) or not much modelling lamp use, they'll likely be good :)

We have already been awarded the Digital Photo Gold Award for the *Genesis MK 1 heads, against Bowens, Elinchrom, Interfit & Lencarta, and our new MK II heads are THREE TIMES FASTER and fan cooled, so they are altogether in a different league to the competition.

might be worth the extra for the MK2 version... up to you...

and they are a bargain atm, and also at the moment, all their modifiers are 3 for the price of 2, so get yourself some extras too :)

also don't miss the offer on the homepage:
Summer Special Offer!
We are giving away one free softbox with every complete studio kit purchased from the Genesis and Trinity ranges! You could choose ANY softbox to add to your purchase, saving you up to £90 on the normal RRP!

you could walk away with a load of lights and mods for a bargain tbh...

Yeah, the MK2 is an option - however on budget it's probably going to be the 2 head set and a few extras. The lights would (I hope) be used for 2-4 hours at a time maximum I imagine..

I've got Elemental stuff, can't fault it :)

What do you have? :)

I picked my three head kit up a couple of days ago. Looks really well made but not had chance to use it in anger yet. The kit bag it comes in is huge. I need a forklift to move it

I didn't see the softbox offer though :bang: Just emailed Sean to see if I qualify for it.

Well if you go Lencarta, customer service is easily reached and garry regularly posts here..

Not sure if anyone from Elemental s that easy to talk to should you need to.... A big plus point in my book...
